OUR SWEET FRIEND, LISA!

Our sweet friend, Lisa, was diagnosed with breast cancer recently. She has had the surgery and started her chemo. The chemo has had the usual effect of hair loss. When Lisa made this discovery, in her usual cool and gentle manner, she drove herself to the wig store/beauty shop and had her head shaved and bought herself a wig. Undaunted Lisa just keeps smiling that sweet smile of hers and never complaining. We love that GIRL!

The Runners have lived life together for quite a few years now. We have laughed (A LOT), cried, reflected, philosophized, and grown together over the years. While running down the road, we have solved most of the world's problems and always had an ear for the good and bad times of each other. We have prayed for each other, discussed God and things of great consequence and held each other up during times of great despair. Now was our time to rally around sweet Lisa.

Sheila came up with the idea that perhaps we should match our hairstyles to match Lisa's. Now there was no pressure, but those that felt they could or should were invited to sit under the clippers. We all gathered at our home and showered Lisa with hats and scarves as we laughed and screamed with laughter. We sheared the locks, we tried on hats and wigs and we enjoyed the blessing of friendship.

When it is your idea, you go first and Sheila stepped up to the occasion. First came off the blond locks, compliments of Barber Bobby.

Larry was next and SHOCK-we like his head with his hair shorn. The women sill love the new look. He should have them swarming!

Sonja had to go last since her little granddaughter was NOT HAPPY about Nanna getting her hair cut off. Sonja won the award for the smallest head with the most brains crammed into it.

The "REAL PRESSURE" for Bobby came when I climbed into the chair. One false nick and he could be in big trouble.

Sandra climbed in the chair, BUT OH NO-Bobby felt the shape of her head and declared her Ill Shaped for a close cut. Actually this was her claim, but upon examination Bobby had to agree. You should have seen her jump when I turned the clippers on behind her.

Babs tries on "The Shilo Wig" and we all get a good laugh about the 60's "GO GO GIRL".

Miss Mona tried on the wig. When you see the length of her hair-well she really didn't have much to sacrifice to begin with.

Finished-BALD & BEAUTIFUL-All for One & One for All
What a group of friends! We had one of the best times we have ever had together last night. It will grow back and we have not suffered any ill effects.
JUST BE WARNED! When you see us running down the road for a while, a few of us may appear A LITTLE SHORT in the hair department. That's OK-we just want Lisa in the middle of us healthy and happy once again!

What a testimony as Jesus left the glories of heaven for a human body, you sacrificed the "glory" of your hair to love Lisa. I pray each of you will find God faithful as you look in the mirror and pray for Lisa's health and peace.

Love & prayers, Barbara

Beautiful, beautiful women! I am truly inspired by this story...tears are streaming down my face as I type! Ms. Susan told me about this and I was floored(in a good way). I can only hope that the group of friends I have today grow to be as strong, dedicated, and supportive as you guys are! I am so lucky to have you as a friend!

Lora, this is awesome. A bunch of the guys did this when Peter's brother lost his hair. I love that you did this. What a great friend. I bet those hot Louisiana runs will be cooler, now. You are going to give Bobby a run for his money. I'm not sure which bald Conville is coolest, now.

Lisa is my hero and all who went "under the clippers" are my heroes as well. As for me, some men just have all the luck. God bless you all for your giving nature and your love and friendship for each other.
