IT'S NOT EASY BEING A SOUTHERN BELLE-EVEN AFTER YEARS OF PRACTICE!

SORE RED NECK!

I am back in "The Real World" and trying to take care of a few overdue appointments. Monday, I went to see Ms. Dermatologist. GIRLS-STAY OUT OF THE SUN-WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN! After more blisters than I care to think about during the pre-sunscreen years, the bell is tolling! I have a semi-annual skin exam with my dermatologist. This ALWAYS results in burning off a few of the pre-cancerous sights and sometimes results in a biopsy. I had skin cancer a few years ago and received a mini-brow lift when the plastic surgeon removed the offending lesion with clear margins to boot. This little lesion, about the size of a zit required an incision about 2 inches long and clear margins on all sides being removed. In an effort to NOT GO THERE AGAIN, I go for my regular checks. Monday's appointment resulted in 3 burn offs and 1 biopsy. This leaves blisters which require about 2 weeks to heal and hopefully a scrap off that will require no further treatment. NOT SMART TO LAY OUT IN THE SUN OR IN THAT TANNING BED!

Yesterday, I went to the exercise terrorist (therapist) to work out all of the kinks from 65 miles of hiking in 5 days. THE MAN IS A TORTURE EXPERT! This is not your spa feel good massage-this is a sports massage. Taking his hand, forearm, and elbow the meanie works out all of the knots in my muscles. He also measures to see if my hips are lined up-which they normally are not. This means stretching and pulling and pushing to get things back where they should be. I had to tell him a couple of times, I can't stand it-QUIT! Some things had to be left for the next trip because they were so tender and sore. After an hour of mid-evil torture, I began to wonder if maybe I'm just a little masochistic. He did say he thought maybe I was suffering from overuse-THE MAN IS A GENIUS! Now remember I did not even realize I was sore to Mr. Evil found the spots. Today I am sore for sure after all that torture! Note to self-take an alleve before the next session!

I am planning another contest soon. Already have in my mind a Great Ruston Prize! Watch & read since I have not worked out the details including when and for how long!

Oh my goodness -- I am sooo going in and trading in the SPF 15 for the SPF 55.

Actually I'm always scared of skin cancer -- but this is a great reminder because I'm always forgetting to put it on my neck. I am really good at putting it on my face, but not my neck. The result is a RED NECK! I need to be more careful!

Oh Mrs. Sweet Lora! Thank you for that gentle reminder...but...right now I love the sun! I have had SIX moles removed b/c they were pre-cancerous...probably should heed your advice, shouldn't I? :D

not only does it do bad things to your skin- I had a mole on my eye and the doctor told me to have sun glasses when I am out in the sun-it is very bad for your eyes. Helen

Don't waste your money...
After 30 SPF, there is no improvement. None, Nada, Zip, Zilch.
Just re-apply SPF 30 frequently.

ummm you should have been there the other weekend to remind me of this. We went to the pool with Adam & Cam {who had SPF on the entire time} and I said "I never get any sun" so I didnt put any on. but somehow I managed to turn into a lobster and peeled for the next week.. oh & I am still peeling today. I asked them to remind me of that day when i am at the doctor in a few years wondering why.
