YOU'RE OUTTA HERE!

Those darling little critters have shown up in the attic crawl space again. It seems that if you don't get rid of all the Little Family born and raised there, they come back to "Home Sweet Home". I am once again on a mission to rid our "Woodsy Acres" of all the offending creatures. Today I caught and transplanted two of the pesks. I finally left the trap in the back of my vehicle, knowing I didn't have time to take anymore off today.

After nabbing one of the "little darlings" last week, I put him/her in the back of the truck with a towel over the trap to keep him calm. I first take all the office limbs to the landfill. The nice young man that unloaded the limbs for me sees the cage and lifts the towel. He almost fainted when the squrrel jumped. I laughed and laughed. He then calls over "The Entire Landfill Gang" to show them my game. I felt like the "Queen of the Landfill" for a brief period with all the fellows gathered round listening to my tale. The "Nice Young Man" got his finger bitten when he put his finger into the cage. Now HOW smart was that?

BC usually lets me tend to all the trapping and relocating. This past weekend while home, he decided to go with me for a "Relocation Trip". When he saw how I put my hand down by the trap door to open it and let my little buddy go, he told me I was crazy and going to get attacked. I just chuckled and said after around 30 catches and releases I had it all down to a fine science.

Where am I taking them, I WILL NEVER TELL, BUT if you happen to notice an increase in your local wildlife you might question are you "IT"!

Hello Queenie,

Here is an alternative:

Cajun Squirrel
Thanks to Connie Dupont for sending in this recipe.

~ squirrels, cut into serving pieces, amount depends upon how many you can eat
~ olive oil
~ 1 large onion
~ 1 large green bell pepper
~ 2 cloves garlic
~ Cajun spice (Tony Chachere's recommended)
~ 2 tbsp Tabasco sauce
~ 4 tbsp ketchup
~ 1 tbsp Gumbo File seasoning
~ cooked rice

In a deep pot or dutch oven, heat some olive oil.

Season the squirrel on all sides with the Cajun seasoning. Add to the hot oil and turn to brown on all sides. Continue to cook until done.

Place the onion, bell pepper and garlic in a blender. Cover with water and chop. Add to the pot when squirrel is done.

Sprinkle the added vegetables with Cajun seasoning.

Add the Tabasco sauce, ketchup and the Gumbo File. Stir to mix well.

Serve over the cooked rice.

Enjoy.
